The house is surrounded by a terrace, so you can always sit in the sun. There is a gigantic garden with a large lawn, and there are playing fields behind the property where you can kick a ball around. The house offers an open view of pastures where cows graze. Nijeberkoop is situated at the edge of the Drents-Friese Wold National Park, a large nature preserve on the provincial border between Friesland and Drenthe mainly consisting of sand drifts, forest and heath. It's wonderful for hiking and cycling and there are special routes for mountain bikers. And of course there are plenty of restaurants. A bit closer to home, Appelscha is also worth a visit and is just a 15-minute drive. You can rent bicycles here to explore the national park, or take part in one of the many athletic activities that are organised.
