Our mansion has a charming presence offering both space and intimacy due to its clever and elegant design. You can enjoy the comfortable living spaces on the second floor, or utilize the entire downstairs for relaxation or sports. Relax on our spacious veranda, stroll around the yard, or check out the views of greater San Miguel from our rooftop. Each bedroom has its own full bath and fireplace. The master has partner sinks, a jacuzzi bathtub, a shower stall and a two-person sauna. Atascadero is one of the most attractive and elegant of all neighborhoods in San Miguel. On a hillside overlooking Centro, it has the advantage of being in a quiet, residential neighborhood but still within walking distance of downtown 'Centro'. You can walk downhill through charming neighborhoods on cobblestone streets into the heart of San Miguel and all of its charms--with its unique mix of Spanish colonial architecture and and Mexican charm, its many shops, restaurants and churches. One direction takes you to the main market, and another takes you to the 'Jardin' or main square. After enjoying San Miguel's lively town center, you can return to a quiet and comfortable home. You can walk walk 10 minutes downhill to reach town, or call a taxi. Taxis in San Miguel are plentiful and inexpensive (30 to 40 pesos per ride or US$2.00 to US$2.75). It's always easy to catch a taxi in town for access to all of San Miguel, or for a ride home. It's just as easy to call one from our home for a ride downtown or elsewhere in greater San Miguel. Public buses are available, but most tourists prefer walking or taking taxis. Taxi drivers are friendly, knowledgeable and many speak English. Central San Miguel lies to the east of our home, and attractions of a different sort lie just behind us to the west. San Miguel's unique botanical garden, the Charco del Ingenio, protects many indigenous species including 156 species of migratory and resident birds, and 110 species of butterflies.  The Charco is a 10 minute walk from our home. Just past the Charco you'll find San Miguel's shopping mall and Cinemex theaters, as well as the famous 'El Tianguis' Tuesday Market--these are a longer walk, or a short taxi ride away. The Tuesday market is an open air market that operates every Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a huge market that has hundreds of vendors selling everything: fresh produce, fish, chicken, CDs, DVDs, clothes, furniture, kitchenware, radios, cassette, live song birds, used car parts and almost anything else you can imagine.
