Balzan is a quaint residential village right in the centre of the island. Together with Lija and Attard it comprises so-called Three Villages famous for its nice old villas with citrus gardens. Although Birkirkara is in the centre of Malta and is regarded as one of the quieter villages, however there are still some nice bars & restaurants in walking distance from the apartment, all within a 10 minute walk.
The apartment is found in Birkirkara's oldest neighborhood. It is surrounded by typical Maltese townhouses all of which dawning typical Maltese facades, with colourful balconies and intricate Maltese stonework. Birkirkara is the home town two of Malta's last 4 Prime Ministers and also the birthplace of the first president of Malta Anthony Mamo. The city's motto is "In hoc signo vinces" meaning "in this sign you will conquer", and its coat of arms is a plain red cross, surmounted by a crown.
