The house is located in Arcidosso old town, a small village around one hundred metres from Aldobrandesco castle, which is home to several permanent exhibitions. In the summer months, a stage is erected in the village square, hosting almost nightly performances of plays, concerts or other forms of entertainment.
Arcidosso is situated 662 metres above sea level. While in summer temperatures can soar to 35 degrees, inside the house the temperature is only 24 degrees.
Mount Amiata is approximately 13 Km from the house. By car it takes 20 minutes. On the way there, vegetation varies from olive groves to chestnut trees and as the altitude increases you encounter very dense woodland composed of beach trees.
In the main square you will find the tourist office, which offers information about all the local activities, (hiking, guided tours of churches, chestnut forests, the waterfall, horse riding, bike excursions, etc.) in a variety of languages;
The local wildlife reserve is just 3 km away, home to donkeys, horses, various species of deer and wolves.
Mount Labbro with David's tower is around 10 km away and offers a 360 view, stretching from the Castiglione della Pescaia coast right the way to the
Gran Sasso mountain in Abruzzo. There are also many more wonderful places of interest nearby.
Very close at hand there is a bar/bakery, a wine bar, a pizzeria-pub, a butcher's shop selling home-made produce, a trattoria serving traditional specialities, a grocer's selling fruit and vegetables, as well as 2 supermarkets (Conad and Coop) around 500-1,000 metres away;
There are limited public transport links serving Grosseto and the seaside (Grosseto-Castiglione della Pescaia marinas) or offering transport connections with Siena-Florence.
