Villa for rent from € 177/day in PalaichoraName/Address:
If you wish to learn all about the original Cretan way, far away from all the noisy tourist destinations and city rumble, then our home is the right place for you. It is found in the historic village of Koustogerako which is located at the Cretan mountains.
It is a three-storey cottage made with the traditional Cretan way by using our location’s raw materials. The cottage has been renovated with love and respect towards the environment. Thick stones and beams of wood are the architectural primal elements of our home.
It is surrounded by a big yard from where you will have the chance to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the mountainous villages up to the limitless vast horizon of the Libyan sea at the South of Crete.
Words are not enough to describe the feelings of relaxation and serenity one feels while gazing towards our view, listening to the sounds of nature, the soft summer Cretan mountainous winds that pass through the Pine and Cypress tree branches that surround the area, the eagles flying high, dancing with each gust, while the sun soothes your body and calms your senses.
The interior of our home was carefully designed in order to mirror the outside natural habitat. In the old times Cretan folks used whatever was found in the surrounding area. There are enough beds to accommodate 8 people in total in three bedrooms located in three floors, two of them with their own wc and shower.
On the second floor , there is a fully-equipped kitchen, a living room with a fireplace, a dining room, a small space for relaxing and a bedroom equipped with a double bed and a WC. Lastly, on the top floor, there is a bedroom and the top floor balcony offering a breathtaking view of the Libyan Sea.
House is fully equipped with all needed for a trouble free relaxing stay. We have wifi, satellite tv, washing machine, coffee maker, toaster, fridge/freezer, iron, hair dryer and we provide fresh top quality linens and towels, shampoo and soaps, salt/pepper, various herbs and other essentials.
Our home is located at Koustogerako village. The scenery is typical of the mountainous south of Chania Prefecture, with high mountains and deep gorges.
The slopes are covered with pine and cypress, with a glorious view of the valley before Sougia and the peaks opposite. Koustogerako seems an insignificant little village, but in fact it has played its part many times in the fight for freedom and paid for it dearly.
It is mentioned in an 800-year-old manuscript as Christou Geraki (Christ's Hawk), and is the birthplace of Georgios Kandanoleon , the leader of the rising against the Venetians in 1527.
The Venetians twice destroyed the village in reprisals, as did the Turks after the 1821 Revolution and the Germans on 1 September 1943, when they executed the inhabitants of three neighbouring villages: Koustogerako, Livadas and Moni.
Koustogerako village is built amphitheatrically on the mountainside, well hidden from the sea, perhaps for fear of pirates many centuries ago.
If you're not afraid of driving on dirt tracks, take the road through the village and up the Madara, the forested White Mountains. The dirt road is passable even with a normal car as long as it's not too low and heavily loaded. Leave the car for a while, admire the wonderful forest blanketing the steep slopes around you, and breathe in the scent of pine and thyme.
If you are into hiking you will be more than glad at this location. There are numerous natural routes to follow, trekking paths and the European E4 that passes through the Village.
Crete is a rough island that offers to the lucky ones, who are brave enough to truly explore it, a juxtaposition of green and dry habitats at the same time, razor sharp rocks, unique flora & fauna, natural beauties that invoke all your senses to its fullest. You will get the chance to discover one of the most beautiful and intact areas of Crete.
Our home is located at an elevated strategic stronghold point but at the same time it is just a few minutes of distance away to one of the most sought after beaches of the world.
The world famous sea village of Sougia with Polifimos cave, Lissos ancient ruins, its crystal clear sea and unique taverns are there for you to enjoy.
